1. Who we are
TALJobs (taljobs.org) is a free career platform for students and recent graduates, run by Touch-A-Life Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, at 4701 Patrick Henry Drive, #20, Santa Clara, CA 95054, USA (“TALJobs”, “we”, “us”). For users in India, [TO CONFIRM: Indian entity name and registered address, if any].
We decide why and how your personal data is used, so we are the data fiduciary under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and the business or controller responsible for it under applicable US laws.
2. Who TALJobs is for
TALJobs is for students in school, college or university (including master's programmes) and recent graduates in India and the USA. You must be at least 16 to create an account.
If you are 16–17, a parent or legal guardian must agree to you using TALJobs. See Young people below.
3. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address, and optionally your phone number.
- Basic profile: whether you're a student or recent graduate, your country, city, school/college/university and graduation year.
- Your resume file (PDF or Word) and everything in it. If you use auto-fill, your browser reads the file on your device to suggest profile details — the file isn't sent anywhere extra to do this, and nothing is added until you choose it.
- Profile details you choose to add: headline, skills, summary, education, internships, projects, volunteering, links (e.g. LinkedIn, GitHub), job preferences, availability and expected salary.
- Parent/guardian details if you are under 18: their name and email, to confirm their consent.
- Messages you send us, such as support requests or grievances.
Information from sign-in providers
If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We don't get your Google password.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers and hosting providers record technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you request, to keep the service secure and working. We do not use advertising trackers or analytics cookies. See Cookies & browser storage.
Please don't include sensitive details in your resume that employers don't need — such as government ID numbers (Aadhaar, PAN, SSN), bank details, health information, religion or caste.
4. How we use your information
| Purpose | What we use |
|---|---|
| Create and secure your account, and send you sign-in codes | Name, email, phone |
| Build your profile and show it to employers, if you make it visible | Profile details and resume |
| Match you with suitable opportunities (when job features launch) | Skills, education, preferences, location |
| Send service messages (e.g. verification codes, important account or policy updates) | Email, phone |
| Answer support requests and grievances | Your messages and account details |
| Keep TALJobs safe — prevent fraud, spam and misuse | Account and technical information |
| Meet legal obligations | As required by law |
We process your data on the basis of the consent you give when you sign up, and for legitimate uses allowed by law (such as complying with legal obligations). You can withdraw consent at any time — see Your rights. Withdrawing consent means we can no longer provide the service to you, but doesn't affect processing that already happened.
We will never sell your personal data, and we don't use it for advertising.
5. Who can see your information
- Employers and recruiters — only if you choose. When your resume is set to visible, registered employers on TALJobs can see your profile and resume. Your email and phone number are never shown publicly. You can switch visibility off at any time.
- Service providers who help us run TALJobs, such as cloud hosting and storage, email and SMS delivery for sign-in codes, and Google for sign-in. They may only use your data to provide services to us.
- Touch-A-Life Foundation, which operates TALJobs.
- Authorities, when the law requires it — for example to respond to a valid legal order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
- A successor organisation, if TALJobs is ever transferred, subject to this policy.
6. Your choices
- Make your resume visible to employers, or keep it private.
- Edit or update your profile and resume at any time.
- Delete your resume, or delete your account.
- Stop non-essential emails using the link in those emails (service messages like sign-in codes will still be sent).
7. Your rights
Everyone
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- give you a summary or copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct, complete or update it;
- delete it (unless we must keep it by law);
- withdraw your consent.
India (DPDP Act, 2023)
You also have the right to grievance redressal and to nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to. If you're not satisfied with our response to a grievance, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
USA
Some US states give residents specific privacy rights. As a nonprofit, not every state law applies to us, but we honour the requests above for all users. We don't sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.
To make a request, use our data request page or email support@touchalife.org. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
8. Young people
TALJobs is not for anyone under 16. If you are 16–17, we need the consent of your parent or legal guardian, as required by India's DPDP Act. We ask for their name and email when you sign up and email them a link to confirm (valid for 7 days). Your resume stays private — and isn't shown to employers — until they confirm.
We do not track the behaviour of, or show targeted advertising to, anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 16 has created an account, or that a parent hasn't consented, we will delete the account. Parents and guardians can contact us at support@touchalife.org.
10. How long we keep data
We keep your account and resume while your account is active. If you delete your resume or account, we delete the related personal data within 30 days, and from backups within 90 days, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
If an account is inactive for a long period, we may contact you and then delete it, as the DPDP Rules require for data no longer needed for its purpose.
11. Security
We use reasonable security measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and passwordless sign-in codes. No service is completely secure, so please keep your email account safe and never share your sign-in code with anyone. If a personal data breach affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
12. Where your data is stored
TALJobs is run from the USA and uses cloud providers that may store and process data in the USA and other countries. When we transfer data from India, we do so in line with the DPDP Act and any restrictions the Government of India sets.
13. Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we'll update the date at the top and tell you by email or on the site before they take effect. Where the law requires it, we'll ask for your consent again.
